EuroMillions winner shares her fortune with others

An Irish woman has shared her incredible tale of becoming a EuroMillions winner. Not only did the EuroMillions results change her life, but also enabled her to help so many others. The winner, Frances, and her husband, Patrick, have given away more than half of their £114.9 million EuroMillions payout!

The EuroMillions winner laughed when recalling the moment they won. Her husband checked the results, and after sharing a moment to double-check the numbers, they celebrated with a cup of tea.

Daily life has not changed too much for the lucky couple. A new home and a second-hand £2,000 Jaguar were their biggest treats. Rather, she has used the winnings to help others.

EuroMillions winner gives generously

Despite winning one of the larger EuroMillions prizes, Frances has dedicated her time and money to helping others.

Once confirming the great news from her EuroMillions results, Frances drafted a list of 50 family members and friends that she wanted to help financially. True to her character, she generously gifted them money. One of her most prized possessions is the scrapbook of thank you cards from people she has helped.

“I have more joy from changing lives than buying jewellery.”

After the win, the humble woman was eager to buy a bungalow. The generous winner went on to explain that despite being able to buy a lavish home – even looking at an estate with a whole village at one point – she preferred a comfortable home. The home that she settled on with her husband is a 5 bedroom home on 5 acres of land, and features a pool and tennis court to enjoy with her family.

This year, Frances has bought some extra Christmas presents for people spending the holiday in hospital and young carers living in poverty. The items include over 1000 toiletries sets, 30 computers, 20 laptops, and dozens of dongles to allow access to the internet.

Speaking to lottery officials, Frances joked about her generosity.

“Patrick joked for years that if we ever won the Lottery, he’d take away my mobile phone and never let me use the computer again because I’d give away the lot. But I’ve taken real joy from helping other people out.”

You can find out more about Frances and her incredible charity work on the National Lottery’s blog

EuroMillions results

Frances won £114.9 million in a EuroMillions draw on 1st January 2019. She won the jackpot for draw 1177 by matching the winning numbers 1, 8, 11, 25, and 28, as well as the Lucky Stars which were 4 and 6.

She shared that typically her numbers are a mix of birthdays, but the winning EuroMillions numbers were from a last-minute online Lucky Dip.

Recent winners include four neighbours from Wolverhampton (WV4 6BS) who won £180,000! One of the winner’s doubled his share to take home £60,000, as he had two winning tickets for the draw.

In February 2021, another set of four Wigan neighbours (WN6 0JE) took home £1,000 each, while two Cheshire (CH66 4JY) residents celebrated winning £30,000 each!

One Hull of a win!

Back in April 2020, a Postcode Millions draw saw 520 players from Hull win a share in £3 Million, after their postcode sector, HU3 6, was drawn! However, two lucky neighbours who played the full winning postcode of HU3 6QQ are truly over the moon. They each received £198,355 – a life-changing amount.

One winner, Michael, explained how he was yet to change his address after a recent move. Fortunately for him, his old postcode was the winning one! Working as a pub DJ and currently volunteering at a local food store, Michael was ecstatic to receive the news and looks forward to buying a house and some champagne to celebrate. Of his Hull community, the People’s Postcode Lottery winner spoke highly.

“It’s been challenging but there are lots of nice people. Everyone in this area is lovely and there is already a community spirit here. I know the win will help everyone so much.”

The second Hull winner was Caroline, a worker in a department store restaurant. She screamed in shock, thinking of the things she could now do with the money. Top of her list was a massive party when lockdown is over! The winner also wants to treat her parents, start learning to drive, and getting her motorbike on the road.

Devon Family Delighted by EuroMillions Results

Neil Smart and his wife Sue are celebrating after learning of their £1 Million EuroMillions results! Not only are they able to relieve some financial stress but they also plan to donate to a cause that is close to their heart.

Builder’s merchant worker, Neil, plays occasionally on the National Lottery app. Despite being aware of having a ticket in the EuroMillions draw, he didn’t check the results until a couple of days later. He finally logged in and saw a message congratulating him on winning £1,000,000! The father of 3 couldn’t believe his eyes and asked his daughter to check it too. It was a sleepless night for the family before Neil could call the lottery provider at 9am to confirm.

Incredibly, he had won the £1 Million EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker prize. This prize is given to one ticket holder per draw and changes their lives!

Giving back

Neil and Sue plan to use the prize to buy a bigger family car. This will be an amazing purchase for the family, who frequently drive on long journeys to a Birmingham hospital. The Smart’s son, aged 9, was born with scoliosis and requires regular care and ongoing support.

“People have said, ‘well done, it couldn’t happen to a nicer family’… But the win will make a difference to our whole family for years to come, and that is so important.”

Having experienced the difficulties that come with chronic illness and health conditions, the Smart family are overjoyed to be able to help a cause that helped them – the Ronald McDonald House charity. The RMHC provides a place for families to stay nearby hospitals when their child is in treatment, helping relieve some financial stress and providing support.

“They have given me somewhere to stay a couple of times when I have really needed help. I want to help them out and give something back. I can’t change the world with what I have but every little helps.”

In the future, when restrictions ease, the family are also excited to travel on a cruise with the whole family and indulge in some first-class cruising!

Congratulations to the lucky EuroMillions draw winners!

Lotto Draw Results Have New Millionaire Dancing!

Recent Saturday Lotto draw results have left a couple dancing with joy. Leicestershire couple, Terri Picton-Clark, and her husband were shocked to learn their Lotto ticket was a million-dollar winner.

Terri shared how they had been on their way to look at new kitchens on the day they purchased the ticket. They had stopped in to fill up with petrol, where John also got a Lucky Dip lottery ticket. He had said, “You never know, we might win the Lottery!”. Fortunately, this time he was right!

It wasn’t until Monday that John tried to check the ticket at the same garage. The cashier informed John that he needed to call Camelot (the lottery provider) as the prize was too much. He raced home to Terri, who was busy on a Zoom call. The couple were excited, thinking they had won £50,000 or another exciting amount. They couldn’t believe it when officials confirmed it was in fact a million dollars!

The couple celebrated by dancing around their lounge room. Terri recalled the celebrations –

The neighbours could see us jumping up and down, dancing and celebrating and asked us what we were doing. We told them about our win and they ended up celebrating with us, socially-distanced from our respective front gardens.”

How they’ll spend their winnings

After celebrating with some champagne and dancing, John started spending the winnings by giving the shop assistant who had sold his winning ticket £100. They have also generously helped their friends and family, assisting with buying a laptop for friends who were home-schooling, and for their grandchild.

As Terri is a champion ballroom dancer, the couple is looking forward to buying themselves some new clothes. Particularly, a new dress and shoes for Terri and a bespoke suit for John to wear when they can return to ballroom dancing. They are also eager to travel when it’s safe to do so – especially a ski trip or trip to Antarctica.

Congratulations to the lucky couple!

Lotto draw results

Their ticket won the £1 million prize in the Saturday the 9th of January 2021 Lotto draw. They matched 5 main numbers and the Bonus Ball.

Winning main numbers: 9 – 38 – 21 – 30 – 23 – 35

Bonus Ball: 53

There were 4 other entries that also won £1 million, while just one player had all 6 main numbers and took home the top prize of £20 million.

Lotto UK January Winners

January 2021 has taken a turn from the gloom of 2020 for 38 lucky Lotto UK players. What a way to start a year by winning the lottery with prizes of £1 million or more.

Lotto UK welcomed 10 new millionaires in January 2021, including 2 major jackpot winners.

There were 5 x £1 million winners in the lotto draw on 9th January. Malcolm Haines, the 49-year-old accountant from Reading, shared he was flabbergasted when he realised he’d won.

Terri is looking forward to getting a new kitchen, plans to visit Antarctica and take grandkids skiing. She also wants to spoil herself with a new dress and shoes for her ballroom dancing.

EuroMillions was lucky for 11 UK players. 10 winners scored £1 million each in the 1st January draw. While one super-lucky player won a staggering £39.8 million!

For some the win wasn’t as big, but the joy was no less! Martin Gilbey from Northampton said he certainly won’t forget January 2021. He was ‘shook up’ at the news that he won almost £120,000 on a EuroMillions ticket in the 8th January draw.

Set For Life has made the year – or 30! – for a lucky player on 18th January. Imagine how winning £10,000 a month for 30 years would make you feel!

It wouldn’t be Lotto UK without the Instant Win Games! There were 4 top prize winners, who pocketed more than £50,000, and a lucky player who won £500,000.

Scratchcard winners were plenty in January also. 22 in total – 21 of them won the major prize, including 3 prizes of £1 million, 2 prizes totally £1.2 million and 1 prize of £2 million. There was also 1 high tier Triple Jackpot winner of £250,000.
